Sample Itinerary of child-friendly, family tours
in London and Rome

Of course, this is only a guide. We know that when kids are involved anything can happen, so we will go with the flow to ensure you have the best experience possible!


London: The Terrible Tower of London and walk - Family tour

Duration: 3.5 hours  

9.00: meet at the Sundial outside Tower Hill Underground Station, London. Our expert guide will introduce themselves to your family with a couple if icebreakers to put your children at ease, as well as let you all know what to expect on the tour (alternatively our guide could meet you at your hotel)

9.00-9.20: walk to the Tower of London, via a park to see the Execution Site and explain what and how it was used. 

9.20-9.30: enter the Tower of London with a chat about how your kids might attack a medieval castle. 

9.30-11.00: Tour inside the Tower of London with a visit to the Crown Jewels, as well as seeing the Ravens and perhaps a photograph with the Beefeaters. Your guide will regale you with lots of the most dramatic stories about the Tower and the people who stayed there, whether as guests or as prisoners! 

11.00-11.20: snack break either inside the Tower or in one of the cafes outside. 

11.20-12.30: a walk to Borough Market, the world famous food market that includes a walk over the iconic Tower Bridge (the one that opens in the middle) and along the banks of the River Thames, as well as seeing the medieval Southwark Cathedral before finishing for a bite to eat at one of the tempting street food stalls at Borough Market. 

What is included: the cost of £350.00 provides you with a 3.5 hur tour with an expert guide for families and children who can provide information, entertainment and flexibility.

Meeting Point: Hotel or at Sundial next to Tower Hill Underground Station
Ages: All ages are fascinated by the stories of the Medieval Tower. The Tower is toddler friendly, although a little difficult to push a buggy around as there are lots of cobbles, but it is possible. There are buggy parks where you can leave the buggy. No buggy access in the White Tower but they can be left outside. Lots of running around opportunities. Food market can get busy, reins/buggy advised for little ones, but lots of smells and sights to entertain, and fun for teenagers.

ROME: THE BIG HITTERS: COLOSSEUM, PALATINE AND FORUM TOUR FOR FAMILIES

Duration: 3.5 hours

Colosseum family tour

9.00: Meet at hotel or Colosseo Metro exit. Our expert guide will introduce themselves to your family with a couple of icebreakers to put your children at ease, as well as let you all know what to expect on the tour (alternatively our guide could meet you at your hotel)

9.10-9.30: Walk to the Palatine while your guide will give you an introduction to Imperial Rome and the sights that you will be visiting on this tour.

9.30-10.15: A tour of the Palatine, one of the 7 hills of Rome where we will learn how the hill developed from an Iron Age village to an Imperial Palace for the Emperors of Rome (and we'll also hear about the exploits of the good Emperors and the bad ones!). 

10.15-10.30: walk to the Forum discussing the sights seen along the way.

10.30-11.15: We'll explore the ruins of the Roman Forum and learn about Rome as a democratic-ish Republic, and what led to the Fall of Rome in in the 5th century CE and perhaps stop for a picnic snack along the way.

11.15-11.30: Walk to the Colosseum while you and your guide will discuss the architecture of this magnificent structure.

11.30-12.30: Tour of the Colosseum where you will hear the stories of the gladiators, the superstars of the Roman world, killed animals and each other (we can turn the gore up or down depending on your tastes!) and work out how you could survive!

12.30: end of tour

Ages: Suitable for all ages. Buggies not advisable. There is lots of walking outside, so a baby carrier might be better. Reins advised. Baby change hard to find, so be prepared to change outside! Bring snacks as there aren't many cafes on this walk!
